160 people at the antiwar protest today, for which I made lots of Food Not Bombs vegan pizza. On the one hand, I feel the need to note this for the international audience: my very small town, it cares! We are very sorry, world!

At the same time, man, I get annoyed at small-town political rhetoric. I felt like I needed a Citation Needed sign every five seconds. Also, some dude made an impassioned call for peace to begin in the uterus? Whatever, dude.

I would like a t-shirt that says "it's rather complicated, you know" to wear to these things.
I remember the first protest, senior year of high school. It was a different town, but there were hundreds of people, and we were furious. I would call today more of a concerned public meeting on the issue of national debt, with lunch provided.

But I am a bitter and cynical old person, so meh. I'll get over it in another couple of years.

I remember when I was at the protest at the beginning of this war and in the midst of the chanting (George Bush we know you, daddy was a killer too! catchy, but odd) I was thinking, 'what the fuck can we do? It's not even our country'. I mean, all we could do (and I guess sort of did) was convince our country not to send its one dude with improper armour and no bullets to the fray. Sigh.

Ha! Man, yeah, I was having similar thoughts. But then again, I've always sort of felt like that about these kind of things. I left when the one girl complained that we didn't have enough of the one thing that brings us all together: music, and started singing "Imagine." That was a little too much for me. Food was good, though.
