I am three episodes in, and I am well-pleased. I usually feel guilty for structuring my day around a tv show - that's my ecopuritan side coming out - but I had no problem today going out to run errands and returning exactly when Torchwood episode 3 was supposed to be done downloading. I even bought snack food for the first time in quite a while, because nothing makes tv as delicious as candied ginger and Veggie Booty.

So far:
1) Captain Jack Harkness is my new Capn' Tightpants! The void in my heart left by the last space-traveling vintage-military man with a humourously fake American accent has been filled! Don't worry, Captain Mal, we can always be friends.

2) Dear lord in heaven, Gwen Cooper is hot. I mean this in entirely shallow ways - I mean, sure, she's likeable, but also, I don't know how to delicately state to the internet that her ass? It is amazing. I feel quite odd typing that.

3) Okay, okay, so the everybody-is-bisexual bit is a gimmick, but it's an awesome gimmick. Heck, it sounds like the culture in which I went to high school (the reappearance of the words omnisexuality and pansexuality on Torchwood lj-comms make me very nostalgic for the late 90s). Also, in a cast with two women and three men, it makes canon pairings much harder to predict. And more fun!

4) That said, now that I know that Ianto and Jack apparently get it on at some point, I find myself rooting for Jack/Gwen. I'm never satisfied, am I?

5) Last thing, I swear: On the one hand, it would have been mindblowingly cool if all the dudes kissing other dudes onscreen had come as a surprise. On the other hand, I only picked up this show because of the Jack/Jack clips on youtube. And it has been worth it, spoilers or no spoilers.

I am only as far as the learning-to-shoot in Episode 3, but I actually got so enthused I had to stop and tell the internet how awesome this show is. Because no one's ever said that on lj before!
