DW 6x06 - Huh. That was - huh.
Well so Amy has been locked in a box pregnant for eight monthsish. She was already there by 6x02; she thought she was pregnant in 6x01, but there was a three-month timelapse and she was unpregnant, so clearly whatever it was happened in 6x01? I will rewatch 01 more closely in a bit to see if I can find anything out. She hallucinated the eyepatch lady by 6x02, too.
I mean, the way I am interpreting the anvil-weight foreshadowing is that her child is the astronaut girl, who was raised in the orphanage in 6x02. There's only a picture of Amy with the infant, so they were separated after that point, I guess? Though part of me totally thinks the baby was somewhere else and Amy lived there.
... Is it mandatory that every single season of New Who have a plot arch at least as complicated as Buffy Season 7? Because this stuff is getting baroque.
I am not, incidentally, 100% down with the Doctor killing the Amy-ganger. I understand that that was the most convenient way to make that dramatic point but we just spent a whole two-parter learning that They Are People Too. ...It is not just because Season 6 Amy has had such adorable hair, I swear to god. I think she should live for other reasons! Right now I am chalking it up as "when you watch doctor who you have to handwave some murdering" but I would like it if they dealt with that better and we got two Amys.
I suspect if I had ever given birth I would be right there with most of the people I've seen on latest/tag?=doctor who going WHY WHY WHY IS IT ALWAYS ON HER BACK IN A SCARY WHITE BOX but I have not been around any real life childbirths and so I tend to believe the TV that it's an alien parasite explosion every single time. Even though I know people IRL who for instance gave birth in under an hour of knowing they were in labor, in a Toyota Tercel, and felt more or less fine the day after. Hm. Maybe I should reexamine my assumptions there.
Also I am assuming that if Amy gives birth to a Timelord by accident they will make it because of Space Magic or Rory being rebooted, because they would not have had it be like a broken condom during a space orgy or Amy and the Doctor getting a little side action in because it is a kids' show. And we already got told that Amy and Rory have worked through their differences. I still hope that it is a fetus then baby produced through two people who love each other getting it on plus bonus space magic, at least, and not, say, alien probes. Fingers crossed.
Also I am happy that the two guys who had the kid worked it out, and the station chief had company at the end and things were not awful. I am grumpy about the Doctor being violent against Amy, partially because what he's saying there is that it's not okay to decommission any Fleshes, and the person he's talking to (/being violent towards) is a Flesh who he then decommissions, so either they have to take that seriously or the whole scene is now paracanon. Oh, Who, I do love you but sometimes I wonder if I spend more time trying to make premises hang together than the writers do.
Hm, now that I have rewatched key bits to get things that were said, please forgive me, especially Britishly, I am a little more okay with the dissolving because Ganger Doctor did it to himself. And he did leave lots of leeway for it to be reversible. Also there's precedent for Flesh being called in for childcare duties so maybe an Amy gets left to take care of the space baby or something. It seems especially brutal to Amelia Pond to make her space baby grow up in an abandoned orphanage, doesn't it?
This has been tl;dr. What did you think, internet?
BTW, if there is anyone who follows this journal who feels like they are getting spoiled by my feelings in the cut tags, please tell me and I will post a neutral cut-tag with some feelings-words right under it.
