So y'all doubtlessly already read this, but I just finished And All the World Beneath by
seperis, and yes, go read it, it is beautiful. (SPN/SGA crossover, NC-17, novel-length). I was reading it in the living room and my roommate kept giving me funny looks because I was gesturing incoherently at the screen and maybe tearing up just a little.
First, I love Donna, a lot. I skipped this episode because I was feeling too Rooooooose about the whole thing at the time, and I just wanted to move on and get current, but I did enjoy the flashbacks and the tearing up and the Timelord!Pain.
Also, yes, I see what he did there. Donna makes an excellent observation that when our Doctor gets all bitter he is capable of doing things like wiping out whole species, and that is Bad, and he needs someone to give him some perspective.
Taking that into account, I am even more confused about exactly what Davies et. al. were doing in season 3 by giving him an acolyte and making him a god. Especially as it didn't end badly. Instead he just spent a whole season being emotionally unavailable and then pulled a Tinkerbell.
This has nothing to do with how I spent the morning sourcing from s2 and missing the companion that chased him around the console calling him a rockabilly punk, I swear. At least we're getting a companion that slaps him around and calls him on his bullshit. That should be fun.
Also, I know everyone's rooting for Toshiko/Martha, but in canon, I really hope for Martha/Hot Doctor Guy from LoTTL. One, I think the whole bit where Martha knows he's the kind of man who would join the resistance and save the world but he has no idea is potentially fascinating. And two, as part of Martha's increasing kickassness, I want to see her be the only person on the Torchwood team whose personal life Jack can't destroy with his invisible bisexuality rays.
Not that I'm against invisible bisexuality rays if it actually gets us Toshiko/Martha. I just want Martha to be invincible to Whoverse heroes henceforth.
Also, I now have two vids in timeline and one in sourcing. It is amazing how the impending start of the semester makes me want to look at spaceships and not think about my class schedule.
