Learning about ego depletion made me feel really pleased, because Michael Pollan et. al. keep pointing out that a lot of people totally have time, technically, and only some people are physically tired after work, and yet that worn-out feeling has to come from somewhere. And it does! It probably comes from not throwing binders at coworkers' heads all day, among other things, even if they're lovely coworkers.
My uncle won't eat leftovers! Luckily his rules don't apply to lunchmeat, so they eat sandwiches five nights a week. Most of my successful home cooking involves freezing things on cookie sheets and then bagging them, though - among other things, fridge leftovers are often really unappealing even when they're safe, for some reason.
