The laptop is way brokener than just the harddrive, though the harddrive was, in fact, broken. So I have a new harddrive, and kind of new RAM, but a completely dead laptop.

When I planned to be able to get a new one immediately, I wasn't planning for my hiring paperwork to take two months to go through (!), so I'm officially going to be semi-afk for a while. My Sweet Charity pimp is being very understanding, thank heavens, and frankly I've been doing a thorough job of mooching off other people's internet connections so far. Still. Bleargh.
