Hey, if you want a gmail invite, I do comments through gmail anyway, so moving the doom threads to gtalk is one potential change of platform. As suits. This particular evening I hope to be doing of the homework, unfortunately. But let me know!
Unitarian kids sense each other from afar. There's some sort of weird hippie aura thing involved. I am, sort of worrisomely, dead serious. I have picked the Unitarian kid out of a crowded room even when he's a republican in ROTC. And there was that girl in my dorm who had converted from UU to Southern Baptism (over the thing with the banana, in fact). I only knew that she was Baptist at the time, and couldn't figure out why she seemed so familiar.
It really does sound like we're in a cult when I put it that way. Huh.
We are having a Ministerial Experiment and small-church politics are kind of like fandom_wank on a bad day, so I haven't been to church lately either. Which is a bummer. I miss coffee hour.
To segue neatly, I've decided that keeping one's head in the sand is exactly the right thing to do during fan kerfluffles. It takes me some willpower not to chuck a few "can't we all just get along!"s into the whirlwind before running away, though.
Oh, Zelenka. Have you read The Secret Lives of Scientists (http://yearningvoid.net/stories/julad/000082.html) by julad? It's pretty well-known, but sometimes these things slip through the cracks.
