I'm treating the porn battle prompts as something of a personal challenge, given how long it's been since I wrote anything that didn't have MLA citations, and man. I'd forgotten how hard it is to write sex scenes. I don't think I'll be sharing with the internet for a while yet, but it's an interesting exercise. I always have more respect for good authors after I try to imitate what they do and discover that it really is pretty complicated. Even just writing something that doesn't suck is hard enough, never mind in something that's in character, and then there's the problem that in most fanfiction all the gendered pronouns are the same so it's hard to keep straight who is where when. I do not even _know_ how the Ray/Ray people in DS manage this.

Anyway, I was not meaning to so much whinge about my own difficulties as say that trying to do this makes me appreciate just how many extraordinarily good writers are hanging out in fandom. That is all.
