You know, sometimes, thank god for the internet, because I was up from 3 to 5 a.m. waiting for the painkillers to kick in (glare headache from putting up tree cages on the farm all afternoon. Why am I too feeble to withstand direct sunlight?) and I could have been insomniac and miserable but instead I found
lordessrenegade's International Interfandom Makeout Day, and the hours passed pleasantly indeed.
I had to get up at 7 to go give a presentation, but the day did not pass badly, all things considered. The alarm did interrupt an awesome dream where I had to rescue Paul Gross, who was being held captive by his status-hungry family in their Jetsons mansion in the year 2058. I was rappelling up the side of the skyscraper when I woke up. I'm sure Paul would have been quite grateful, too. Alas.
Also last night while I was sitting up I discovered that we have owls! At least two of them. Through the window they sounded like some sort of strange woodwind. Luckily this time I was neither hypothermic nor running a high fever and so I could be all "hey, owls!" and not all "THE OWL PORTENDS OF DEATH." Owls, insomnia, and me have kind of a mixed history.
