For the record, re: Japan.

I am very very concerned about the situation in Japan, both radiological and plain old food-water-and-shelter-wise, and I wish there was more I could do - this is where being a broke, busy atheist leaves you with very little that's useful in a global emergency.

However. If you, too, are worried about the radiological situation, one thing a broke, busy atheist can give you is links to graphs comparing present levels and historical level updated in realtime, so that you have the best possible chance of figuring out how worried to be with all the data present. One of the charts in question recorded an incident almost immediately, apparently a while before there were any reports in the news, which I find deeply reassuring.
