I think you are totally right about Brian. He does like the boost of someone who loved him before he was cool and he does love Mikey in a way that precludes ever having a physical relationship with him.
And WORD about the fourteen-year-ld girl muses. Bitches! Why?! My one attempt at writing HP was specifically and intentionally meant to exocise that particular deamon, but she still rears her fluffy, green-banged, emo head from time to time. And also, OMG I wanted to write Mary Sues when I was wee like that, but didn't know what to call it. I had a huge epic story of Princess Abi, the somehow mysteriously concieved daughter of Robin Hood and Will Scarlet and I had never heard of slash. *giggles*
