Well, here you have anti-terror laws since the 70s, because of the RAF. I mean, my parents got their apartment searched because police were trying to get my brother under some anti-terror law, iirc (I was quite young then), because he was into the whole squatter scene in the 1980s and police were looking for illegal radical left zines and such. Of course it has gotten worse since then with the international terrorism offering new justifications. (Since the laws already restricting civil liberties didn't work against the guys who were living and studying here while planning 9/11, the conclusion obviously ended up being that even more intrusive and restricting anti-terror laws would help more.)
