I've written two whole stories with plots in them! I'm totally qualified to do this meme.

1. Comment to this post with the name of a character that I have written in fic.
2. I will comment telling you the following:
a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
b. One of his/her best traits.
c. One of his/her worst traits.
d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
e. The story/chapter/paragraph/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character.
f. My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.

b) Rodney McKay is, I think, a bit of a nerd McSue for a lot of us - socially awkward, too smart for his own good, easily charmed by lanky guys who are good at math. At the same time as he's massively easy to identify with, he's got this very clear character voice. He's fun to write, even when he's having big life problems.
On a personality level, I think he is completely redeemed by his OT4: all the sudden he's discovering himself capable of loyalty and friendship and it is precious.
c) See "Nerd McSue" above. Also, he's oblivious enough that I really believe he's not that reliable a narrator.
I'm pretty sure that in real life? He'd be an Objectivist. I try not to think about that.
d) Heh. Looking at what I've already written, it really comes across that I relate more to SGA-as-fanfiction than SGA canon - which is a shame, because David Hewlett, bless him, did give us a brilliant jumping-off point. So in that context, he's easy to write, because for me writing Rodney is why we're here.
e) I really liked the scene in Panthalassa (http://sapote.livejournal.com/tag/Panthalassa) where he went back to Cadman and as like, so, I'm an ass, let's coparent. That was the first place where I felt like I'd soemwhat caught the rhythm of a Rodney-rant.
f) ::glares at WiP:: Daily. Struggle. It has been suggested that I've moved on to Doctor Who and should just embrace the change, but I'm really not willing to let this WiP go yet.

And I love the idea of Rodney as unreliable narrator. John's *so* emotionally closed off that I sort of expect him to be unreliable.
Man, I could ramble about my Rodney love for hours...
re: WIP. Yayhooray! I am very glad you have not fully moved on to Doctor Who because I am full of joy regarding SGA. Joy that cannot be expressed without CAPSLOCK! And flailing!! (And might be jossed once S4 starts but there are pictures of David in tight pants. So whee!!) In summary: I am in the land of SGA joy and everyone needs to come with.

And maybe a little less coffee for me today.
