Dear everyone who posts warnings on their stories, especially for consent issues and people doing their relatives: I really, really appreciate it. Please keep up the good work.
As someone with no giant miserable-making triggers, I won't say for myself that I think they should be compulsory, but if they're not in the header or in the link, I'm going to skim the whole story with my shoulders around my ears and my finger on the back button. And then, inevitably, I'm going to hit a couple of stories where I go OHJESUS and backpedal as fast as I can go, which, again, doesn't ruin my whole day, it just ruins my relationship with that story. A lot of the time, if I'd been warned for, say, dubcon, I would have gone ahead and read through, but if it's sprung on me I get all uncomfortable.
Funnily enough, I've no real triggers myself. I just think it's cheap to spring stuff on people without warning. Because fandom doesn't have to deal with censorship in the way that mainstream does, I think it's even more important that writers are responsible about what they put out, because everywhere else you know pretty much what you're letting yourself in for. And yes, I have a back button and use it ruthlessly, but you know, there shouldn't be a need for that. In my opinion.
