I am planning to stay up watching the elections with people. Actually, I'm planning to stay up, watch the elections, and drink, which, I have the tolerance of a tiny grasshopper, so this should be funny on at least one front.
Oh! Your night is our day! You are welcome onto our IRC channel (#cognito, server za24.zanet.net), we'll all be awake and I know many of us will be keen to discuss elections!
Who take the form of giant storks or pelicans, I will have you know. I'm only on page 183, and there was the first instance of doomed interspecies romance already. This being Stork/Human, not Human/Block of Wood.
Gift baskets full of all the whiskey, $4 chocolate bars and porn I can lay my hands on.
Speaking of visa applications, I have been reexamining my motivation re: a PhD in LIS, as Western Ontario offers one. I'm *reasonably* sure that's just the Pre-Election Crazies talking to me. Probably. But it's 4 years long! Surely that is not coincidence?
London's nice. Not death far from Toronto. Can I tempt you to SFU or UBC? We don't have snow. And if you go west I can find you a Canadian spouse to help your points!
Do I get to make weak American jokes now? Because, I mean, it's not a kid's Halloween costume unless you can fit a snowsuit under it. London's a balmy tropical paradise compared to where I did my teenageing. Hence the moving to Vancouver.
I grew up with Lake effect snow - Cleveland and a couple of years in Chicago - so I do remember what real snow is like. (Northeast Ohio: because we like our Halloweens frosty, our Christmases green and our Easters white.) No snow pants with the Halloween costume, thankfully. (God, I hated snow pants.)
But central Ohio is just far enough south to get a lot less. And I would like to end up someplace with even less than this, approaching zero.
2cm of snow here and I get no class. Now that's truly when I feel all superior and from the prairies. I went to a high school in a city where if it was cold enough to call a snow day it was cold enough that a child, upon reaching the school and finding it closed, would die on the way back home from exposure. That's cold. London also gets lake effect type snow. Vancouver gets Pacific coast rain. Sometimes, when it is January and I feel that I have never seen the sun, I think it evens out. Ohio actually sounds nice. Or I have heard favourable things?
I think Robert Munsch says more about the Canadian experience than any other text ever could. trufax.
Oh god, I can only imagine. I've got a friend on community beat in one of our local small town newspapers, and she says if she never has to talk to a person in a flag hat again it will be too soon.
I am seriously hoping for some street-dancing. I think I'm crashing near to downtown so that I do not miss it if it happens. And yes. Drinking. Which, I drink maybe twice a year, so at least tomorrow evening will be funny on one count.
We're having people over, so I won't be drunkenly liveblogging. Probably.
I am hoping for street dancing as well. My actual neighborhood is too sedate for full blown riots - even after the National Championship all we had were like 10 drunken people walking down the middle of the street shouting "Woohoo" and hugging each other and wishing Woody were here to see it.
I have to stop freaking out about it long enough to take a final tonight, ugh.
I mean my stomach hurts but only because of my weird intestines. I have that ability to sort of ignore things that may be a big deal to retain my sanity.
Also, up there you said you are watching the results tomorrow and drinking. Is this with me and mine, or where are you going?
Are you and yours watching? I would not mind putting in some time with those folks - though they seem a little less OBAMA! OBAMA! than the crew that will be at Doug's after 11.
I think we will be going to my mom's at 7 and then somewhere else without a tv and more beer later. when will we start knowing? When will votes begin to be counted?
I want into this plan! Polls close in NC at 7:30, but if you're in line by then you can stay until you make it to the voting booth, which means I expect gboro will probably be voting until midnight.
And I went to my mommy's for mexican and i don't feel good time. I'll be back later, perhaps after your bedtime. In that case I will gchat you tomorrow about the plan.
p.s. I had to go get your computer to answer this question, which made answering it kind of meaningless as you will probably have to come up here to see the answer and I am here equipped with vocal apparati.
Also, speaking of things closing, when does the ABC close tomorrow?
My stomach hurts because I am pathetically sick, but can I pretend that my sickness is caused by a possible non-Obama win?
Your poll clearly indicates that if this all goes down badly we'll be gaining 5 new buddies bearing chocolate and gift baskets, so I can hardly complain!

I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry.

And that is just starting to be sufficient for apology candy.

I am a little afraid of the results of either outcome, seeing as how I live in a town that loves it some football riots.

I am sorry! My roommate is sick too. Possibly it is partially the political strain.

Mmmm, fair-trade political apologies. *drools*

Maybe not. Chocolate for both of us!
