I am watching Merlin.
I'm on episode 3 and the stupid dragon has already told Merlin he and Arther are soulmates about a hundred times. It is the Slash Dragon. I do not even understand.

Someone please point me to the fic.

Well, she's been in fandom a while - lots of SGA and Smallville, and assorted other fandoms. At her LJ she's got two completed Merlin stories - both excellent - and an extremely tantalizing WIP.

Hmmmmm maybe I read Smallville? I dunno, most of my fanfiction experience has been Harry Potter and the occasional LOTR (I know, boring, whatever). I dunno how I feel about Merlin/Arthur. Lancelot/Arthur I could get behind, though.

See, Lancelot/Arthur is my classic Camelot OTP (oh, what am I saying: Gwen is totally in there too! OT3! Thank you, Marion Zimmer Bradley) - but the new BBC series (which I was watching on your computer last night) makes Merlin and Arthur the same age and both sketchily adolescent, with big ears and emotional problems. And Merlin is Arthur's bodyservant. You know. He puts his armor on him. And everything.

GOD the internet is a sketchy place. I love fandom so much.

Oh that's RIGHT, Merlin gets younger instead of older, right? In some versions?

I don't really know, I think they're just fucking with canon - people also wear glasses, blather on about individual rights, and believe in Science. Merlin is just a teenager with a lot of problems because he's all psychic. And I'm serious when I say there is this CGI dragon (and I'm pretty sure they just use the same shot over and over again) who keeps telling him that Arthur is his other half and needs him.

Me again. In this one they pretty much reversed the backstories for Arthur and Gwen so that he's all princely from the get go and she's a servant. Good times.

They were so cute! And then they were horribly betrayed and tortured and separated and then they bought joint christmas presents for Harry. And then they died. Some of the Remus/Sirius isn't on her page anymore, but she wrote a trilogy that is definitely excellent.
