But it's the first day I haven't been flattened by work in weeks and I've been flattened by the grippe.

And Dear Roommate is having a large and drunken gathering in our living room in about six hours.

If anyone wants to drop me some fic recs, I will be on the couch all day and barricaded in my room all night. So they would be much appreciated. On the other hand, I hope all USians east of the Mississippi are outside enjoying this weather. It is really pretty out!

At least I'm all the way outside of the spider-bite-side-effect window now. One thing at a time! Thanks, Universe!

Hooray for being past the leg-falling-off stage! I hope you feel better soon.

Here are some random fic recs; I have no idea if you've seen these before.

Theory of Acquired Characters (http://toomuchplor.livejournal.com/47420.html)
BioProf!John AU. Apparently loosely-based on Never Been Kissed, but I've never seen it, so.
Campfire Law (http://www.talkoncorners.net/day25b.htm)
Summer camp AU. Rodney the camp counselor meets John the lifeguard.
A Supermarket in California (http://taffetablue.livejournal.com/10542.html)
John ends up refurbishing a supermarket two blocks from campus, and finds that this might be home.
The Happiest Place on Earth (http://devildoll.livejournal.com/746278.html)
Now a week stretched before them in the hell on Earth that was Cocoa Beach. High school AU.
Weapons of Some Distraction (http://shrift.livejournal.com/144919.html)
Spoilers for "The Return." The phone calls kept coming at weird intervals, almost as if Rodney had written a program to randomize them. The first day it was kind of endearing. The second day John answered only when the number of Rodney's phone calls reached a prime number, and on impulse, he got on FTD and shipped Rodney a cactus for next day delivery with a note saying that plants liked it when you talked to them.

Okay, so clearly, I have an AU kink. These are all Sheppard/McKay, snagged from my "eee, cute" group of bookmarks. I hope at least some of them work for you, and, uh...yeah, SGA is totally my happy-and-escapist fandom. *g*

Random AUs! I love random AUs!

I did get some writing done while glued to the couch, but now I'm to the ::headdesk:: stage, so this is a welcome distraction.

I recently gave in to the del.icio.us craze, and of course, the majority of what I've bookmarked is either cute or AU. It's a sad, sad addiction.

Hooray for more writing! I hope those will suffice for distraction, then.

Two words that should make anyone who wants to read anything by me in the future shudder in fear:

OFC. POV.
OFC POV!

Even my BROTHER knows that that's a bad thing. And yet, my keyboard keeps spitting it out.

del.icio.us! Is. Um. Delicious. I really like cute, AU, and cute AUs. I sometimes play the ridiculous pairing AU game on the bus:

John is a mermaid! Radek is a lonely fisherman!

Or:
Elizabeth Weir is a world-weary obstretician. Can Jeannie McKay, single mother, bring love back into her life?

Or, you know. Ronan/Hermiod. The Other and the Really Other.

I am kind of comforted by my lack of actual plans to write these.

Um, if any of that is completely incomprehensible, I apologize. When I've been staring at my word processor for a few hours my communication gets kind of wacky.

Well, I am now curious about the OFC POV! I believe that almost any scenario can be written well, so I'm pretty much willing to try anything that has a potential to be good. I'm easy like that.

I love del.icio.us for its tags. It has never been easier to browse through teeth-rottingly sappy cuteness when I'm in the mood for a pick-me-up.

Sad to say, I would probably at least skim all of these ridiculous pairings (unrepentant AU love!), so I suppose it is a good thing that I don't have the talent for working out, you know, actual plotlines and stuff.

re: plotlines: I usually feel like I don't either. I'm a third of the way into a minor plotline right now and I keep wanting to wander off and talk about architecture for a while. Totally not making up that example.

Thank you for your confidence. I am trying not to ::headdesk:: too much about it.

Sometimes the muse is just silly like that! Too much headdesking isn't necessary, though; I'm sure it'll come eventually. And if you want any more recs for distraction (provided that your tastes actually run in the same vein as mine), I'd be happy to oblige!

Thank you again for all the recs, btw. This is awesomeness.

Not a problem -- glad I could be of help!
