We're hoping to keep it just as fast as much as possible. We are overkilling our open-beta hardware buildout; the only choke point is going to be internal network traffic. (Which is going to choke, don't get me wrong, but we're working to mitigate it as much as possible.)

nah, it's lulzier this way. I also joined every "bring facebook back to the way it was" groups there were. I even signed one of those petitions I know don't do anything. I just want everything back the way it was. Back when my LJ still got comments:(

In our defense, Facebook is pretty horrible now. Which is actually apparently why synecdochic my close personal internet acquaintance decided that social media for ad money is doomed to get ugly and started the project.

The good news is, we are sensitive and understanding about that kind of thing and will make moving in as painless for you as we possibly can, if you do decide that you want to move! You'll be able to import your entire LJ, read your LJ friends page, and crosspost to both your DW journal and your LJ journal, all natively from within DW itself.

We're doing everything we can to make it easy for both the people who want to move and the people who don't want to move, basically -- the last thing we want is to splinter existing social groups.

Ooh I have a question.
Can I only import one lj? If I wanted to import my old travel journal as all friendslocked archived entries and combine it with this lj on my dreamwidth, would that be possible?

You can indeed, and we will write guides on how to do it in pretty much any situation you want.

(There's a bug right now that prevents it from working 100%, so I wouldn't recommend that you try it yet, but it's an open-beta-blocking item, so it will get done by then.)

OMG YAY! I already found you over there, which is good because while I am not averse to change I AM VERY BAD AT EXECUTING IT.

But apparently you can crosspost right from the DW interface (or else you will be later, IDK) and if I can't score an invite I can buy a month of paid time for three measly dollars and then keep the account after.

I just have to figure out the syndication thing. (I am weirdly averse to putting LJs in my feedreader. No, I don't know why, don't ask!)

So, I am not moving yet either, but I am pretty sure I will eventually?
