A.k.a, an episode I actually really liked. All the way liked! Could it have been the emphasis on characterization rather than gore? Possibly. Was the metaphor-made-real about How We Deal With The Past a little blunt? Definitely. Admittedly, the Owen/Diana wasn't very compelling, but Owen is growing as a character, and I'll not argue with that. (Plus I think falling in love is about the worst kind of voodoo whammy that can happen to a character like Owen, so I was pro- True Love just because I don't mind him suffering a bit.)

I am constructing a great big metatheory about the Gwen/Jack UST and the potential for a post-heteronormative Beautiful Friendship between people of opposite genders. I mean the sort of relationship that used to be reserved on tv for pairs of men and therefore caused us to write much slash: in a show where everyone's massively bisexual, won't there just be new, all-gender not-quite-romantic relationships to write about? I find this a charming possibility.

On a slightly more personal level: how come girls make out with girls regularly but we're ten episodes in and still no Jack/Ianto hotness? I do not mean delicate, Willow-and-Tara camera-making-a-big-deal-of-how-it's-not-flinching kisses. I demand makeouts. Possibly groping. Never mind that the show is already groundbreaking and so on and so forth: bring the porn!

Sigh. I need to finish Series 1 fast so I can go looking for fanfic.
