Soooo we had our first board meeting since the whole "Why do you hate me so much as to ask me to adhere to the terms of my lease" email thing went down with Departing Ex-Resident. I was actually really tense, because things got so fraught over email and I got called ugly names in front of everybody, and I have illusions of omnipotence that I can fix everyone's issues if I'm just careful enough with my wording.
Well, anyway, the oldest resident gave me presents and we voted to find fault with her move-out and close out the account. And then during the board meeting afterparty (oh yeah, there's an afterparty) I was told variously that the emails had been like the most boring reality show ever (this week on Lease Law, watch people quote the general statutes!) and that the Departing Ex-Resident's emails had been, and I quote, like someone punching a tiny puppy in the face, in which I was the puppy. While I'd rather have the respect of a job well-done then the pity of a job gone south in ways that aren't my fault, I will totally take the latter at this point. Voiced sympathy was nice, because up until the meeting actually worked out how to close the account people have just been doing things like silently handing me beer and walking away.
There are four people replacing me. This just makes me lol heartily. I love the new crew; they are funny and relaxed, and good folks. This is going to get better from here.
