The bad news is that my state will probably have an anti-gay-marriage amendment by morning. The good news is I love polling data anyway. I am trying to focus on things like the fact that there are hundreds and hundreds of people in even the most rural, right-wing counties who came to the polls to vote against it, which in a primary in a state like this requires specific effort.

And of course that my county smashed it five to one, but as usual, we fail to be the whole state.

ETA: I just want to tell you that the polling station at Montreat College came out essentially tied. You know, the place where Billy Graham (and his far more conservative son, Franklin Graham) live? Yeah, it's evenly split on the issue.

Our state, it made me so happy four years ago, but today... *hangs head*

The amendment is the only reason I voted; ditto for my mom, and my brother (if he voted, which is tl;dr). (I did vote for a couple of other candidates, since I was there already.)

My brother's voter registration still gives my mom's phone number on it, and he's registered independent. So Franklin Graham gave us a call; the bad taste his voicemail left was at least balanced by the call from Bill Clinton.

Your county def. needs to be on my shortlist of places to move next year (though I think it already is; 78.94% against sound about right?).
