1) Between the outage and the wank, I finally up and joined Greatestjournal. I'm just squatting the username right now ([livejournal.com profile] sapote3, same as here), but I am kind of predicting an ljpocalypse at some point, so come on and get friendy, everybody, and I'll try to find y'all there and friend you.

I looked at insanejournal, which seems to be prettier, but every time I read the domain name there is this guy in a mid-eighties faux-metal band shirt yelling "INSANE" in a pretend-drunk voice in my head. I have no idea where this guy comes from, or if he's completely mixed up his pop-culture references, but that sort of thing will make me jumpy after a while.

2) Last night, as part of my roommates' ongoing gay film festival, we watched A Question of Love. First, it was adorable. If we still have the dvd I will post screencaps later to show you how cute. Second: the plot: a closeted agronomy major with poetry in his heart and manpain in his soul meets a snarky-but-brilliant plant geneticist. They share lab work. They bicker a lot. And then they make out. Guys, it was like someone had written the SGA AU I'd always wanted as a French coming-out film.

Of course, the third plot point is that they have to deal with Lots of Homophobia, which bums me out because: Europe: aren't you supposed to be all liberal and effete? My crazy religious compatriots keep telling me it is so. But then it all works out, and Our Heroes get back to their basic business of being adorable and saving carrots from acid rain. We finished the movie and just sat there watching the dvd menu loop (snarking! cuddles! ecology!) for the next ten minutes.

I have added that film to my Netflix queue based solely on your description of it as an SGA AU. Gay college boys - never a bad thing.

You will thank me. They are pretty precious.

I should have posted ongoing reviews of our big gay film festival, but another one in the angsty coming-out genre is Sommerstrum (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0420206/), in which all the characters spend the whole movie in swim trunks, and everyone is very German.
