OH TEEN WOLF. That was the most anticlimactic thing I have ever seen. Show, you have basically been emailing me for a week being like YOU WILL BE INCONSOLABLE. YOU WILL WAKE UP TUESDAY MORNING IN A POOL OF YOUR OWN TEARVOMIT. YOU WILL CURSE THE DAY YOU EVER HEARD OF WEREWOLVES. YOUR LIVES WILL BE RUINED AND YOU WILL BE RUINED AND EVERYTHING WILL BE RUINED.

Nowhere in that email did it say "we will wrap the plotlines up in the first twenty minutes, skipping over huge bits of backstory, so that we can tell you who's dating who in the season break." NO1CURR TEEN WOLF. NO1CURR.

I will say that: remember all that cuddly werewolf friends fic that got written last season break? The show actually left it in a better place to do that stuff this season break. Plus free Chris Argent, Melissa McCall, Sheriff Stilinski, and Everyone's New Best Friend Peter Hale for all your actual grown-up shipping needs.

I am rewatching as soon as work is over so I will have more detailed thoughts, including the latest installment of People Shout At Derek Hale, which god knows I haven't posted enough about lately. I think the end conclusion is, there are times when I like this show in a way that I actually think it's really good, and there are times when I like this show in a way where I'm like "Oh, Teen Wolf." This is definitely the latter but I am secretly happy that no one died, even though I feel kind of let down that no one died.

I am so bummed out that I don't have time today to catch up on f_fa Teen Wolf threads. I have had the nicest conversations over there about this show, and apparently it's like ninety posts deep already.

I agree with everything in this post! I was pretty underwhelmed, really. I think they've had much, much stronger episodes from a story point of view. I think my hope for next season is that even if they stick to 12-ep plot arcs as I've seen suggested is the intention, that the character arcs are over the full season, because everyone but Stiles got shortchanged this season and I feel like that's only because they've thrown everything they've got at Dylan O'Brien. Definitely agree that sometimes I think it's actually a good show and sometimes I think it's one of those shows that's a really good jumping off point for fandom.

But - but the Jackson resurrection!! It was almost worth the terribleness solely to watch backlit Jackson be resurrected with a chorus of angels singing in the background.

I was drinking a martini when this happened and I spilled it laughing. It was SO AMAZING.

... The lizard makeup was so much better than the werewolf makeup. I keep reminding myself that the Buffy Season 2 vampires were pretty, pretty bad.

(I want to note that this show seems to be occupying the same ecological niche in my brain as Highlander. Apparently that role has been unfilled in my life since 1998.)

And they didn't really have time to substantiate any of the stuff that happened with Dylan O'Brien. For example, I am completely sure that his speech to Lydia about how death affects the people around you was about Gerard threatening to kill Stiles if he didn't somehow cooperate, and Stiles being terrified of what that would do to his dad. But there wasn't time to actually get into it because there were too many plotlines that had to be wrapped up (including a couple that I didn't care about much, but I'm not the core demographic.)

I feel like Scott has gotten a lot of development but it's mostly been offscreen. I would LOVE to know what he and Dr. Deaton have been talking about! Just one conversation! The shifting limited third-person POV is an interesting choice for this show.
