1) So I'm sourcewatching for a DW vid I'm doing that is not about Rose or Martha, at least not directly. It's been an interesting exercise, trying to actively avoid them through three seasons of footage. Rose & Martha (writing it Rose/Martha makes it a lot more interesting, wow) have been very much at the front of my fanbrain lately. The part of my fanbrain not occupied by the Boldstrikepocalypse, of course.

There's been a lot of good meta written about female characters / characters of color in Doctor Who, and I think a lot of it is valid and interesting. But meta explanations aside, you know what it comes down to? I had (/have) a Huge. Girlcrush. on Rose Tyler. I don't have one on Martha Jones. Character I have an insane fancrush on (Rose) + other character I have an insane fancrush on (the Doctor) = OTP. Actually, I suspect Rosecrush > Doctorcrush, in that I would read Rose/someone I didn't much like, while I don't read Doctor/same.

I swear I will not post about Rose Tyler much more, because the Rose Tyler camp has about all the devotees it can hold. I will concede that Commando!Martha was, in fact, hot. And I have high hopes for any casting spoilers that I may or may not know about.

(While we're on the topic? I was sourcewatching They Keep Killing Susie and wow, Detective Swanson, please come back next season. Because I think you need to have highly snarky, possibly handcuff-related getting of the on with Jack and/or Tosh. Yep. Why, hello detective.)

2) You know, I used to invent horrible, horrible story warnings for Harry Potter stories / fanart. And recite them. To win fandom arguments. With my siblings. Yes, I am a sick person.

I never really expected to be part of (okay, a bystander to) a free speech tussle over the very sort of fanworks whose warnings I invented to shock people.

Altogether now, fandom! Burn the land / boil the sea! You can't take our underage(-looking) werewolf bondage noncon from meeee!
(Or rather us /Because I don't really want any underage-looking werewolf bondage / but I suppose I support someone's right to post iiiittt / this joke works better sung out loouuuud)

Imagine little musical notes breaking around that whole last paragraph. OKAY I think we're done here.

3) Hi guys! Should I watch Life on Mars? Because I have been watching this imeem playlist thing and I am starting to have strange and possibly tingly feelings for Sam Tyler and his existential angst.

4) It's amazing how much more I want to post when I've had to walk twenty minutes to get to the internet. At least right now I'm indoors! I got the good coffeeshop table, and for the last forty minutes people have been walking by and glaring at me.

I suppose I will go back to working on my Job-Related Documents now. Grawr.

Some of these items are quite short, but it looks so neat this way.

Hi guys! Should I watch Life on Mars?

YES! Absolutely, yes!

There is too much good tv! I protest!

Life on Mars is fabulous and you should totally, TOTALLY watch it. You will love Sam Tyler. (It is impossible not to!)

What I really need are more obscure Commonwealth-related fandoms. ::insincere heavy sigh::

As soon as I have home internet I am going to give it a try. I hear the tiny little running shorts are in the second episode?

More? In that case, may I suggest Robin Hood? Or Black Books? I think I already pimped Viva Blackpool, but surely there are others...

...or should I just inventory my external hard drive?

*runs away while laughing maniacally*

oh god, that's evil. Canada and Bollywood were bad enough, as far as no one else ever knowing what I was talking about. Why can't I have any nice American fandoms?

We have Black Books on dvd! I only really like the first two seasons, though, because s3 is too "Manny gets hurt. This is hilarious!". Poor Manny!

I really want Via Blackpool, but it is indeed difficult to find.

And here I am thinking of Due South and SGA as "big" fandoms. Bollywood? That's some obscurity, right there.

I have kind of resigned myself to answering "something really geeky and also obscure and possibly something everyone else was watching 5 years ago" in response to the TV question, though. (I blame the BBC. And Aaron Sorkin.)

I swear, I am totally on the lookout for Blackpool. (I just need a multi-region DVD player and the sky to rain money. There are, perhaps, some drawbacks to this plan.)

One billion people on the other side of the planet can't be wrong? There is some great Bollywood, provided your taste runs mildly cheesy and your attention span runs really really long. Besides, dance numbers. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bA5qyJ_7fs0)

I know, and as soon as one of us gets Blackpool, I suppose *cough* all of us will have Blackpool. One of these days someone will find it.
