GUYS I AM WATCHING DOPPLEGANGER, DOPPLEGANGER: I AM WATCHING IT

This show, it is so awesome I want to lick my laptop screen. OMG.
1) Ronon is totally the big hairy Atlantis yenta. He keeps trying to find Sheppard a nice girlfriend! You know, I don't think he's seeing anyone...

2) I am consistently, constantly getting Jossed-er and Jossed-er (they aren't even on the same planet! Half of my Future-Atlantis command team is now dead or quasi-dead!) but I did love seeing the commander (if not Weir), Keller, and Heightmeyer all on the same side of the table. Because in my head, in twenty years, that was the Atlantis-running dream team, I don't know why.

3) So Teyla/Heightmeyer was totally looking like canon, yeah? Up until the moment where they killed her off. This will put some extra poignancy in reading the rest of the New Atlantean Dictionary for sure! (I did actually yell OH NO out loud when that happened)

4) I am happy every time Radek gets screentime.

5) I am pleased re: the Keller/Carter chemistry. I don't like Carter so much quite yet (though man, on a managerial level this is exactly what they needed: someone competent and experienced in the field who could shake them up a bit) but also, I shouldn't have to be so pleased to get women conversing about technical things onscreen together, but I totally am.

6) Their little electrodes-on-the-head relationship talk? GUYS THIS IS TOTALLY WHAT THEY SAID RIGHT AFTER JOHN KISSED HIM, OK? Rodney was all waving his hands around and freaking out about something to do with their UST-y dynamic and going, "obviously, you wouldn't be interested, and even if you were, that's not to say that it wouldn't be a disastrous mistake, and obviously I have a long history of -"
And then John kisses him - to shut him up, but also with, you know, intent - and Rodney says "You're sure about this," and John goes "Not really." And Rodney says, "I'm pretty screwed up," all big brave blue eyes with that sad little slant to his mouth, but his face is open and hopeful and John smiles, his mouth just inches from McKay's, and breathes "You're telling me," and his hand is at the small of Rodney's back, and he nudges him back into his quarters, and thinks the door shut and OMG FADE TO BLACK and YAY.

7) BOAT! I am clearly typing these as I watch, yes? Also, obviously, Evil!John/Good!John/Rodney threesome. In a rowboat. Yis.

8) Okay, obviously John's nightmare of Life Without Rodney, um, I mean, letting his team down, is very sad. Still, I want to mention that there is extra-special pathos in getting yelled at by Kaylee. I think I might have nightmares where I screw up badly enough to be yelled at by Kaylee. And I wake up. Crying.

9) MCKAY GOES IN TO SAVE HIM. P.S. I am very sure that you can't really punch through the walls in Atlantis, and that, in fact, where Evil!Sheppard punches through the wall? That is actually John's childhood leaking through, a rickety contract-built house on an army base, and the smell of mildew and plaster dust, and sometimes in his dreams that's the Atlantis he lives in, asphalt shingles and linoleum and berber carpet that smells like cigarette butts when it rains.

10) Which one are you? I'M THE ONE WHO LOVES YOU, MCKAY.
I thought there'd be more ... hot girls. OKAY, so if anyone doesn't think they've been doing it forever, here is the brand-new point where they discover their gay love. They thought their subconscious was full of girls! Instead, there was just the city, and each other, and the light of the Stargate.

AWWW.

11) THEY WAKE UP TO VIOLIN MUSIC and Sheppard looks at McKay and obviously if the camera panned to McKay's face here it would be, like, canon^100. Good save, editor. ::smirks::

I LOVE THIS SHOW. A LOT.

AND THEN TEAM. DELICIOUS TEAM. I am going to be naively enthused here that the New Extended Team is now 50% female. This could be good, guys. This could be AWESOME.

OMG ::hugs my show:: Also, there are brilliant John character studies to be made from this source footage, and also, I think I'm going to start reading new SGA fic again.

Which John do you think was the gay one? Because if there aren't already ten thousand stories where evil!John is John's fear of his own repressed sexuality, then I am not a squeeing fangirl.

Are any of y'all still watching SGA? Because between being a week behind and being without lj on the air date, I can't find any reaction posts. Which is to say, if you want to link me in comments, I am totally amenable.

1) OMG where is my AU where Ronon gets regressed to a middle-schooler and John and Rodney have to raise him? C'mon, internet. It would be precious.

3) Yeah, both her and dream-sequence Teyla were suffering the curse of the pretty death, and few things make me more pissed off (glares at a certain OTHER show). But yes. Poor Teyla!

4) I am actually almost as enthused about Radek/anyone as I am about Rodney/anyone. This could be because my SGA OTP spent 2004 eating the internet, so I can afford to be magnanimous. But yes, they are precious, in a platonic way.

5) It is a milder version of going from Doctor Who to Torchwood, isn't it? Welcome to the team, we like to fuck up a whole lot. ::hugs her dysfunctional alien-fighting tv people:: But yes, there is much potential, and for some reason the first and last scenes here even had a precious, Whedon-y sort of vibe. I love it when teams are teamish, and women are friends.

6) I wish I was. Maybe I will be?

7) It hasn't happened yet? Internet, you are slow this week!

9) OMG I need to rewatch and be more twelve. The hoist and penetrate from a few episodes ago totally burned me out for immature humor. On account of laughing for hours.

10) THEY SO ARE. And it really is. And YAY.

I recognized Lorne on sight! ::confesses:: I usually can't do that. And he was WEE and PRECIOUS and John's "Forty-two" was dumb but I love him a lot.

I am about to watch the new ep! We shall exchange commentary?

Wee!Ronon would be precious. Like, rupture an ovary cute, but with knives.

Radek/anyone...yeah, I just want him to get laid. Because he deserves snugglies. (Actually, Weir/Zelenka was my secret OTP for like, 20 minutes. Who doesn't root for the underdog?)

Dysfunctional team goodness is just the best thing ever. (And that is probably what cemented my SG-1 love. They're a lot less slacker, but still fairly dysfunctional.) That's kind of at the heart of a lot of my fannish love, come to that.

"Hoist". "Penetrate." I watch this show with emotional 12 year olds, we cackle about this stuff endlessly. The supreme comedy that is Beef Stroganoff as a dinner option can keep us going for weeks. I am, sadly, not even exagerating.

I love the fanonish idea of John trying to impress Rodney via progressively more dorky references.

Off to watch Traveller and eat dinner. Perhaps commentary later, yes indeedy!
