It is November! For some reason the being-November thing makes me really pleased. Thirty more days until rent time? Survived the holiday un-egged? This is the year I write my masterpeice? Who knows! I'm just pleased with the general November concept.
I am probably not going to write a novel, btw, but maybe I will move some WiPs! I have new ones that are unjossable that I quite like. If I can just get past the premise and into plot - because, as
phnelt and I have been confirming, I would much rather wander around talking about what people eat and how they power their spaceships and what, exactly, their custom is for greeting a second cousin who they have seen in more than two and less than five weeks than send them on adventures. So my characters, um, never do anything. ::handwave:: What can you do?
I don't know if it's that season 4 SGA is particularly good, or if I've just really recommitted to the canon, but right now it is filling me with glee. I will see the new episode... well, not tonight, but sometime this week! This is rivaling my most caught-up in an open canon ever (the last four episodes of Doctor Who s3). I have given up on staying current with Heroes and the Sarah Jane Adventures, though. I suppose I'm expecting to be able to watch them all in a chunk the next time I'm on break.
Speaking of the strange expectations I bring to tv watching, does anyone know what's happening with the tv-links guy? Is there a legal defense fund out there anywhere? This thing where people help me steal my television and then they get hung out to dry makes me :-( .
And last addendum, did I remember to tell y'all that I did write to the BBC to ask if there was any way I could pay for the Doctor Who I was watching? Some sort of symbolic license fees, etc? I got a very very British letter back asking me to stop downloading things illegally. ::sigh:: Maybe in ten more years, there'll be a tip jar somewhere on their website, and I can assuage my conscience and still get my tv in a format that's some use to me.
This ramble has been brought to you by the Downtown Coffeeshop, and also, that paper I'm supposed to be writing. Happy November 1, everybody!

That site was killed? But...but...how am I supposed to watch Atlantis and House now? They kept me going on those lonely summer nights.
*sits in a corner and weeps*
Sure, it's unlawful, but hey so are sex toys in some states!

But really, if there was a legitimate way for me to get my 350 mb .avis, without DRM making them all useless, and pay what I could afford when I had it, I totally would.
