Vacation has, btw, been awesome. I will post pictures soonish, as digital pictures are otherwise condemned to die a lonely death on my failing harddrive. There is not an emoticon ironic enough for the sad screams of holiday memories fading into harddrive-crash oblivion, so, next topic!
I was sick as balls on the ferry, though, as the waves were somewhat choppy (there may have been dolphins, I am 40% sure I saw one) and I got embarrassingly into watching The Man from Earth on
gerbal's Zune, which I was very into until it got to be about Jesus. I was tootling along, getting enthused about the similarities between time travel and immortality as angsty sci-fi cliches and then, bam. Surprise invisible Christ figure! I could have handled that, even, as some sort of symbol of humanity's love for a good story etc, but I get the feeling that the writer had a Point About Religion. Maybe if I hadn't been raised a Unitarian I would have been freshly intrigued by the whole "Buddha: roughly equivalent to Jesus? Let's all get along!" premise, but as was I may have started making jokes about seagulls with transcendentalist leanings. And blah blah motions with my hands.
But that was ten slightly repetitive minutes out of an overall excellent movie. I couldn't find a link, but I'm told a bit more assertiveness with any of the streaming video sites will turn it up. I recommend it.
Also, soon, soon I will man up and watch Battlestar Galactica, because all the other nerds in my family want to talk about is Starbuck's emotional arc etc. I wish I didn't have such an overly-fragile tv-watching constitution. If I take a good look at the shows I get very into (SGA, Who, Due South) they're all shows that contain moderate action-y bits but almost no actual gut-wrenching tension and graphic violence. Shows that I actually cannot watch: Heroes, Supernatural, BSG. I have half-seriously joked about cadging half a valium off someone for BSG-watching purposes, but possibly I just need to watch it in the middle of the day, in small bits. From behind the couch.
That is my exhausted vacation flist spammage. I hope everyone's had a wonderful week!
