Okay, I'm officially watching Farscape. (damn you, kuwdora, for sending such an amazing selection of crack!). Usually when people start watching Farscape they seem to deliver some sort of brilliant meta, but all I've got so far is a raging crush on Aeryn Sun. We'll see.

Well, it's nice to meet all of you! People told me to brace for a giant puppy-pile and I didn't quite believe them *g* Now I do.

Yeah, I'd never paid it sufficient attention, I think because I kept catching bits of season 3 on tv and not having any clue what was going on - but kuwdora totally gets her pimping toaster for this one.

*waves* Here under the puppy-pile flag. I just started re-watching the show again last night and was reminded of how very much I adore Aeryn Sun. Claudia Black is MAGICAL.

Also, once you get further along, I have a Farscape Vid Recs (http://www.livejournal.com/users/sdwolfpup/157288.html) post (that I need to update, dammit), but BE CAREFUL because there are MAJOR spoilers in the vids and it's so worth being unspoiled for this show. It's hard to wait, but the reward is worth the cost of waiting. :) Yay, Farscape!

Altho, if you accidently do see spoilery vids: one saving grace of Farscape is, as you get into the swing of things you will come to realize that there are SO MANY visuals that turn out to actually be somebody's hallucinations, or fantasies, daydreams, or drugged visions, implanted decepto-visions, nightmares, etc., that just having SEEN an image is NO GUARANTEE that it is a thing that actually happens.

The Farscape puppy-pile light has been lit and here we are! Aeryn's hotness really hits its stride, imo, in season 2 because of character development things on the writer's part, but to say more is to spoil and I won't. *bg*

I do believe that _minxy_ has a rec list based on seasons that she collected from people as she was watching and was trying to avoid spoilers.

No brilliant meta is possible while you are still reeling from the initial be-stunned-ment of first contact with The Radiant Aeryn Sun. The part Claudia Black was born to play. The Supreme Commander of the Space Babes. The Raven-Haired Goddess. The One who will crack you up, and make you clutch the arms of your chair, and get you all tingly and hormonal, and make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Among other things.

In those first episodes she is already so far out of everybody's league; and then "You can be more" turns out to be the most prescient line EVER. Lucky you, to be taking your first ride!

There are so many "best things" about Farscape that it's hard to list them all.

Like, in Farscape, EVERYTHING is canon. Think of your typical fanfic tropes, and they went there. SERIOUSLY.

In Farscape, there is much wearing of leather, and slapping of asses, and visual appreciation of the wearing of leather, and characters having sex and it's emotionally messy without being soap opera territory and character arcs that make mountains seem flat.

And then there's the fans. We're so damned happy to welcome people to the joyous rollercoaster that it just takes a whisper of "here's a newbie" to summon us all out of the woodwork.

So yeah, welcome!
