The bad: That flu that everyone has? I have it. Ow.
The good: At least I don't have to go anywhere today, so I am in bed drinking tea and watching Italian movies with the subtitles off.

I am totally taking recommendations for romantic comedies about antisocial people, the more classic or foreign the better. Currently on the pull list: Dopo mezzanotte, Pride and Prejudice (2005), Much Ado About Nothing (1993, with Emma Thompson as my favorite Beatrice ever). It's interesting, because uptight woman meets lovable fool is a romcom cliché that I hate with my entire being, but lovable nerd meets other lovable nerd is totally on my to-watch list.

Which makes me question (profoundly) why I do not own Juste une question d'amour. Gay french botanists in love, win! I recommended it when I first saw it, but I still haven't gotten around to acquiring it on my own. Sadface.

Torchwood tonight. At least there will be wacky alien hijinks!

Ooh! Second win! The guy is here to fix the weatherstripping on the door! It has been like a month, during which time there were several 50 mph windstorms, so, \o/

It's not very exotic or foreign, but my fave romantic comedy is probably Love Actually (http://www.loveactually.com/). If you want foreign and romantic but less comedic, I really enjoyed Chocolat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocolat_(film)).
OOH! Actually, romantic and foreign AND sort of a comedy- you have to have seen Amelie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Am%C3%A9lie), right?

=)

Aw, I liked Chocolat. And I think we have Amelie somewhere, but I haven't seen it in a while - time to break it out!

No idea about the movies, at the moment, but I hope you get well soon :)

Thank you! I feel better today.

Ack! I hope you feel better soon! This flu, she is miserable. *sniffs and coughs and shuffles away pathetically*

It is a rotten one, isn't it? Though I'm perversely scientifically curious whether we have the same strain. Did yours start with a cough?

I wonder if we do! Mine actually started with a sore throat, then runny nose/sneezing, and now it's settled into a cough/chest infection. Ugh. I hope yours causes less devastation :-)

I second the vote for Chocolat and throw in Stardust. Victorian times! Land of fairy! Hilarious greek chorus! The Princess Bride is always a classic and J really likes Bride and Prejudice. And um, Kinky Boots is great gen. Oh, and Hot Fuzz is also always a classic *g*

Die Hard is for the win, especially in this context. I used to watch the first Matrix, though it mixes badly with cold medication. *g*

I want to see Stardust! I need to get around to that.
