sapote: The TARDIS sits near a tree in sunlight (Default)

These are just stories I liked so far. So you might like them.

Release (The Giver). One of those perfect "and then what happened?" codas to canon; gently imagined and capably written.

celestial alphabets (His Dark Materials). Poetic; lackadaisically punctuated. Very satisfying. Honestly this one felt like the ice cream sundae of His Dark Materials vignettes to me.

Eyes Wide Open (Spindle's End). Another canon coda; what I really like here is how the writing voice is so close to canon's.

Barcelona (Black Books). In which Bernard has to deal with an activist blogger flash mob determined to save his store. Charming.

1) So I had a series of ... well, "unfortunate events" really is the best way to put it. [livejournal.com profile] kuwdora, bless her heart, sent me F/K art, which does, in fact, cure all things. Isn't it beautiful?

2) On the one hand, I am really, really excited about Utopia. On the other hand, I am sort of worried that it will ruin my braincanon and I will be sad. Is this what open canons are like? I have never watched a show as it happens before! It is kind of nervewracking!

3) Baaaaby squirrels! Skittering all over the porch chewing on things, all "I cans eats this? No! It is leaf! I cans eats this? No! It is pebble!"

Awww.

4) ETA: Things that are making me happy this morning:

This deleted scene from Age of Steel. OMG I KNEW IT.

Via [livejournal.com profile] toft_froggy, Revelation by [livejournal.com profile] moonmip and [livejournal.com profile] dulthar. McKay/Sheppard, NSFW, 'audio remix' does not even do it justice. Download. Listen. Cackle with glee. I recommend the one set to the Riverdance soundtrack.

This is not so much a rec (though please, take it as one) as it is just a massive statement of fannish enthusiasm: Edge of Forever by [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic and [livejournal.com profile] sarahq is pretty much rocking my world this morning. I'm hoping there will be more of it. It's an SGA AU where the authors take the canon we all know and love(/sometimes hate a little) and rewrite it so that, essentially, people are sensible. And they pursue "cut off from earth" to the interesting conclusions. Good lord, I love worldbuilding experiments. (And as I may have previously stated I have a real soft spot for post-civilization logistics).

Also, successfully pimped Slings and Arrows to caffieninni yesterday. Now I can go back to Universityville happy.
ETA: Today she actually said "Oh my god I love Paul Gross!" This is a new record for sibling fandom transmission.
