Guys, guys, I finally downloaded VirtualDub! There are no stray frames! There are keyframes! I have been working since February in a video editor that didn't do keyframes.

I could seriously weep for joy. This is awesome.

You know, something I repeatedly fail to appreciate when I watch other people's vids is that not everyone has Adobe Premiere, which pretty much does everything and makes Virtual Dub almost entirely unnecessary. So, I just have to remember to be doubly impressed by everyone's vids - including yours - because of how much more work y'all have to put in.

Hm. Thanks! Yeah, I was talking about this in [livejournal.com profile] sol_se's comments: I do sometimes feel sort of noble for doing it the hard way (and also, I'm pretty sure Premiere won't run on my little student laptop ::pets laptop::) but at the same time, y'all do really cool things with your big fancy programs. In conclusion yay vidding?

It is a lot easier, it turns out, to use a program that doesn't automatically stick a stray frame in every time I make a cut. Dear Blaze Mediapro: I think we should see other programs now.

Actually, Adobe does stick random stray frames in when I clip from the source, almost always ... but I've learned to adjust. And my work habits - clip large bits as scrap, then trim - make it less of a deal.

oh, well, it's good to know it isn't just me being cheap with my editing program? *g* Yeah, I tend to have the first frame overlapped by something else, it's just in vids with a lot of blackspace that it's obvious.

The worst is when a stray frame appears in the video where IT WASN'T BEFORE. Gargh! It especially does that in WMM if you try saving the movie in a different size or format. Then you have to go in & cut them out, and that sometimes messes up timing, so you have to then fix that.

Curse you, stray frames! *shakes fist*

YAY!

Keyframing is addictive... !
