Guys, vidding = the most ridiculous hobby ever.
Today I hit the overheat bluescreen once before the sun had even risen. That's right, I took five days off and today I sprang out of bed at 6:15 full of terrible ideas and ready to give my poor laptop a good thrashing. And I did. It is better now, I hope.

And by the way, this vid is already fairly crackified and now it's developing a narrative arc, which makes me highly suspicious.

Also, I've been really glad for the past two months that I started the Whoverse with Torchwood. In some ways it has made me less sentimental with the characters (yes, this is my less sentimental mode. What? Stop laughing!).

And now I have to go get on a bus and go to work, because I have been vidding for five hours. Admittedly, most of that is render time, and I also carmelized some zucchini and managed to burn mustard greens. I have many talents?

Not that I read fandom_wank, but dude, skip the wank and go straight to the picspam (sadly, all behind links, so it takes a while to navigate.)

Also: David Tennant talks about his manpants on call-in radio?

Also:

I forget that John Barrowman has little glasses. ::spontaneously combusts::

though this, in particular, reminds me that he's actually ethnically Scottish, which makes the Barrowman-lust feel a little ... endogamous. But whatev, because, shiny!

Yes, this is another killing-time-until-the-ep-goes-live post. Hi!
Also, do you know how much fun it is to vid Saxon? A lot! He is superbouncy.

Glitter!

Velvet Goldmine: awesomest movie in the history of the universe?

a) yes.
b) YES.

I have not seen this movie in almost a year, and yes, it is awesome.
(Also my workday kicked ass, so \o/ across the board)

If I was insanely ambitious about vidding and could also invent footage when needed )

warning: lots of embedded music under the cut.

New Who series 1 & 2 talk: brief. somewhat adolescent. )

Also, why is there a black helicopter over my house? If I get abducted, y'all, it was the GOVMENT.

1) So I had a series of ... well, "unfortunate events" really is the best way to put it. [livejournal.com profile] kuwdora, bless her heart, sent me F/K art, which does, in fact, cure all things. Isn't it beautiful?

2) On the one hand, I am really, really excited about Utopia. On the other hand, I am sort of worried that it will ruin my braincanon and I will be sad. Is this what open canons are like? I have never watched a show as it happens before! It is kind of nervewracking!

3) Baaaaby squirrels! Skittering all over the porch chewing on things, all "I cans eats this? No! It is leaf! I cans eats this? No! It is pebble!"

Awww.

4) ETA: Things that are making me happy this morning:

This deleted scene from Age of Steel. OMG I KNEW IT.

Via [livejournal.com profile] toft_froggy, Revelation by [livejournal.com profile] moonmip and [livejournal.com profile] dulthar. McKay/Sheppard, NSFW, 'audio remix' does not even do it justice. Download. Listen. Cackle with glee. I recommend the one set to the Riverdance soundtrack.

Also, I'm caught up on Who (discussion through Blink, kind of whiny.) )

In conclusion, I miss Rose. Can you tell?

But that aside, Blink was )

I wish this thing was always written by the same four (good) writers, but I'm sure there's a complicated tv reason why some shows have writing teams and some shows are completely potluck. And speaking of, is Torchwood series 2 really not going to air until 2008? How, how am I supposed to wait that long?

In real life news, today I did yoga and made tamales. Flavors: cinnamon-raisin, blackberry, chocolate, spinach curry, pizza, and black bean. I haven't got the dough consistancy quite right, but I am still well-pleased.

I finished Doctor Who s2 today. And this is a massive commemorative S1 & S2 picspam. )

My fannish feelings are running somewhere between ::sniffles:: and "I will NEVER LOVE AGAIN."

Screencaps from time-and-space.co.uk, since I'm watching episodes streaming off tv links.

So today I watched *cough* an undisclosed amount of Doctor Who. and I have things to say about 2x06 through 2x09, all of it incoherant flailing. )

Seriously, I usually watch shows with a fair amount of ironic detachment, and I don't really know what's gotten into me that this particular show is hitting me so hard. Maybe it's just that good, or maybe it's that I wholeheartedly, for once, like the hero. Maybe it's that it is kind of a kids' show, and not ironic, itself, at all. Whatever. It is bringing me some serious joy.

More unbetaed Dr. Who, this time untitled as well. 1000 words. )

by [livejournal.com profile] sapote3
Half written after 2x01, half after 2x03 (which should have its title changed to the saddest Dr. Who episode in the history of ever)
Rating is maybe a PG-13
Extra warning: I don't have a Brit beta. I say flats and tins and sort, but I know I've probably missed something fairly central.
Featuring Celibate!Ten and Man Issues!Rose

I feel a little irresponsible for doing the unbetaed snippet thing twice in one week. I will start putting things into the WiP folder and working over them, I swear. Maybe they'll even have plots some day.

New Who 2x01

Okay, so who's got a paper on Liberation Theology and Dr. Who? )

I am still suspending judgement on Ten. )

I am hoping to actually get caught up, because I have never (seriously) watched a show as it happened. I've always watched whole seasons at once, usually from a closed canon. And it would be nice to be able to spread out the squee over a longer period of time, instead of all of it happening over one weekend.

Also: do we just assume there are other rooms in the TARDIS that we never see, or do they exist in a timeless sort of state where they never have to sleep or eat or go to the bathroom?

Dances With Aliens )

unbetaed Dr. Who snippet by [livejournal.com profile] sapote3
Written directly after "The Doctor Dances", Doctor/Rose
Rating depends on how much you read into the metaphor. Not explicit.
Other warnings: made-up words? Written for my own amusement, but that's always the case. Very unbetaed. Possibly strange.

All feedback welcome.

Ridiculous Dr. Who OT3 squee )

I don't just want Dr Who s1 fic, I want REALLY BAD Dr Who s1 fic )

I am not even sure I can finish this season. I kind of want time to stop right here, with the Doctor and Rose and Jack flying around in the TARDIS and being happy.

Also, why is it 55 degrees (12 to the rest of you, says Google) in my house? Why is it ten degrees above freezing outside? I am very sure that the trees and small mammals do not approve. ::shakes fist:: It's May. Yes, this winter was weak, but now is not the time to make up for it!

Question of actual relevance to fic I may or may not be writing: Does the Doctor choose to look like a human, or does he actually look like a human?

yes, yes, I'm eternally the last one on the fandom wagon.

I am wondering if I should count watching seven episodes of Dr. Who as a big accomplishment - it's not like it was painful - but given my gnat-sized attention span this week, I'm going to go ahead and say: yay! Check that off the list!

And also, oh my GOD I love Nine and Rose. I am trying to block all awareness that their love is not eternal from my mind. Seriously, I don't know what it is, but somewhere between Christopher Eccleston's enormous ears and Billie Piper's metric ton of eyeliner there is love in my soul. I spend half of every episode just smishing them. I don't know what it is about their dynamic (mini-picspam, 1x05, 1x07) ).

Is it just that I started paying attention to this sort of thing, or is Dr. Who (at least S1 to episode 8) really beautifully filmed? Because I was playing with screencaps, and seriously, so many shots were so well-composited that it felt like someone had drawn them.

I'm up to 1x09, The Empty Child, and yeah. )

I am also enjoying that I am part of a long tradition of people who are really, really curious about how Time Lords reproduce.

ETA: Re: The Doctor Dances: Really? Did a particular OT3 just enter the canon in a big camera-fades-out sort of way? Because y'all were telling me it was canon, and I was not believing you, which shows what I know.
